I said I would NEVER do this!
No, not put the word ‘Poo’ on the front page of my website – Give a speech to a class full of kids!
Whilst my focus will always be on delivering educational talks outside, with nature as a backdrop, this was really worthwhile and a boatload of fun.
The morning came about when my friend and Freshney Comrade Lyndsey Downes invited me to join her at Stallingborough School, and talk to the kids about all things river.
Lyndsey spoke about her love for the area and also the Grimsby West development. The concern of the children was evident, but we finished on a high with a wildlife poo quiz!
The children were given a few treats including Freshney Comrades trolley tokens and the wonderful Freshney nature leaflets by wildlife knowledge fountain: Alan Greensmith.
Thanks to JD Print LTD for the last minute help with all the print outs, and thank you to all concerned at the school.
Kids are ace…
I don’t know what I was worried about! There’s a veritable plethora of ace people in our local patch of green & blue, and my Freshney Comrade – Lyndsey – is an extra special one.
Lyndsey is passionate about this lovely area of ours that she grew up and still lives in.
Myself, the Freshney Comrades, and no doubt you, reading this, support her 100% in her campaign to save the Freshney Valley against unwanted development.
Development that will lead to a decrease in our green spaces, their nature and biodiversity. Increases in pollution, light, noise & traffic. A detrimental impact on our rare chalk streams, blow wells, and river fauna. A reduction in air quality and a massive impact on the physical and mental wellbeing of our community.
To show your support for Lyndsey, and to learn more about stopping the devastating effect this proposed development could have on OUR space, I’d love you to click here.
thank you ;0)
