An interactive and automatically updated map showing where balloons have been found out in our countryside.
Sending a message to a loved one in heaven is a beautiful, natural, kind and healing thing to do. Unfortunately, when we use a balloon to do this, it rarely makes it all the way to heaven, and usually ends up falling back to earth.
These helium filled balloons are usually made of aluminium foil or latex, and have string or ribbon attached to them. As these materials are not biodegradable, they linger where they land for many years.
This can cause a serious risk of harm to our wildlife, and that’s why we’ve come up with a brilliant, beautiful and long lasting alternative to sending your love skyward – but more about that later.
In the mean time Jim – your Canoe River Cleaner, and Zac – of Pick Walks, have been collecting and logging their finds as they clean up balloons found out and about our local countryside.
Have a play with the interactive map…
You can click on individual balloons, see them, and in some cases even read the message that was attached to them. And before you launch one of your own, please watch this space for a new, alternative, long lasting and environmentally friendly way of commemorating a loved one.
~ Thanks – Jim, Zac & Ellie.
